A Day in The Office With Steve

2022

A DAY IN THE OFFICE WITH STEVE is a bold and hilarious theatre piece written and directed by Ben Asensio, featuring Graeme Murdoch in the title role. Steve is your quintessential 9-to-5 office worker, coasting through another mundane day at work. But when his coworker, Brian, sends around a folder of funny internet videos, Steve’s ordinary routine takes a wildly unexpected turn.

What starts as a casual distraction quickly spirals into an absurd obsession as Steve becomes increasingly—and hilariously—“invested” in the content he’s consuming. The piece is a comedic, over-the-top exploration of what people do when they think no one is watching, blending sharp satire with laugh-out-loud moments.

As an experiment in adapting the fast-paced, viral humour of YouTube and TikTok sketches for the stage, A DAY IN THE OFFICE WITH STEVE pushes theatrical boundaries. The production makes innovative use of multimedia, employing rear projections to show the audience the same videos Steve is watching. This clever technique creates a shared experience, as the audience reacts alongside Steve, blurring the line between spectator and participant.

Loud, bombastic, and unapologetically chaotic, this show is one of Asensio’s most audacious works to date. It was during the creation of this piece that Asensio began to solidify the creative ideals that would later define Cor’ Blimey Productions. Beyond its artistic significance, A DAY IN THE OFFICE WITH STEVE is pure, unfiltered entertainment—the theatrical equivalent of a shot of tequila. It hits you hard and fast, and before you know it, you’re along for the ride and loving every minute.
